The following report was submitted to KRG on July 11, 2015 via our Submit a Sighting page, and may not be reproduced in any way without the expressed written consent from Kahuna Research Group.
Type of Sighting:
After using our photo forensic procedure, we've obtained the following EXIF data from the picture.
EXIF is short for Exchangeable Image File, a format that is a standard for storing interchange information in digital photography image files using JPEG compression. Almost all new digital cameras (and most cell phones) use the EXIF annotation, storing information on the image such as shutter speed, exposure compensation, F number, what metering system was used, if a flash was used, ISO number, date and time the image was taken, whitebalance, auxiliary lenses that were used and resolution. Some images may even store GPS information so you can easily see where the images were taken!
Here we can see the MAKE to be "Layout from Instagram" - meaning this photo was taken on a cell phone.
The chances that this photo is altered to show the two objects is pretty slim. This is just the first step of the process. Next we'll check flight paths of known flights in the Staunton, VA area for July 11, 2015 using the Local Air Traffic page we provide. We do this for all sightings submitted to our Submit a Sighting page.
Further results are kept for our records and can be accessed by active KRG members and KRG Supporting Members only. Thank you for reporting your sightings to Kahuna Research Group.
