My name is Zach and I'm the founder / director of Kahuna Research Group. I would like to reach out to you and extend a warm mahalo for your interest in Kahuna Research Group. Things are moving forward, and I felt the need to write an email to let you know how things are going in the group.

UPDATED MEMBER'S ACCESS

I hope you've enjoyed your free access to our Member's Only pages, including our Case Files page which holds all of our previous investigation forms including the ones from Hilo Memorial (crying babies).

As of today, membership is strictly limited to Field Team members, Supporting Members, and members of other paranormal research groups. If you would still like access to these pages, we're asking for an annual $25 dollar donation. This will help us maintain our membership platform on the website, which costs $29.99/month, and help us bring you better features on our site, like live support. Our paranormal research division is funded by member donations, as we are a community organization. Without community supprt, there's no organization to support the community. JOIN OUR TEAM

We're looking for professional members to join the field team and you have shown a previous interest in being involved. Our field team ventures around the island together to various sites to monitor and record the supernatural activity that is present. Right now, we're currently involved in a major case involving a mother and her child experience unexplained events. This Friday we are assisting in an energy-cleansing for these unfortunate folks and our field team will be visiting their former place of residence where the activity occurred, to bring closure to the situation and assist any willing spirits into the Light.

The reason I started Kahuna Research Group back in 2011 was because there was a lack of others who were doing the kind of research into the paranormal that we do. There seemed to be a lot of talk about ghosts, myths and legends, but not so much action being done to actively investigate these claims.

Today, I know the real reason why I started KRG. I do it because it is a way to keep the mystery alive. Not just the mystery of Hawaii or the paranormal in general...but the mystery that burns deep inside of me today. The mystery of a purpose in life. Deep down, many of the folks I have met over the years have known that there was a higher calling for them to be in Hawaii, a reason they were here, and I have always felt the same. KRG is that reason.

Not until after I founded KRG did I discover a book written by a man named Max Freedom Long. The book is called "The Secret Science Behind Miracles". You can read it on our site in the library. It is mainly a collection of interesting cases and stories about ancient Hawaiian kahuna and the powers they obtained, among other invaluable things, curiously listed just as a paranormal researcher would do, case numbers and all. While reading the book one day my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to check online if there was anything still being published or written by Long or his contemporaries. I discovered that Long transitioned in 1971 and not only were there still active discussions on the subject, Max had started a group similar to KRG back in 1945 called Huna Research.
Long went to Hawaii in 1917 to work as an elementary school teacher, and became interested in the religious beliefs and practices of the kahunas, but none talked to him so he was unable to penetrate to the inner workings of this religion. He left Hawaii in 1931, convinced that he would never learn these secrets. In 1934, he woke with a revelation that the secrets were encoded into the Hawaiian language itself. He called the religious system he developed from this revelation 'Huna' (the Hawaiian word for secret), and wrote his first book in 1936 to chronicle his discoveries. In 1945 he founded Huna Research. In 1953, he published The Secret Science at Work as a Huna textbook, and in 1965 The Huna Codes in Religions, examining parallels to Huna in religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity. So here we have a description of Max's early career in Hawaii. It details that he was inspired to continue researching the Hawaiian mysteries despite not even living in Hawaii any longer. It would appear he was called to Hawaii for a reason in the first place - even if it was to just set in motion other researchers like himself.

That's where I come in. I feel like I may be mirroring Long's research down to the T. It's as though I am here to continue what he started. That is the opportunity that life has presented to me. I now wholly accept that. Just knowing there were others who, despite the cultural barriers and challenges of then and now, took the ancient mysteries and practices of the Hawaiian people so serious to make it our life's work, to keep it alive, in one form or another.
