Legend of the Mu People - Hawaii's Original Inhabitants

Mu is described as a continent similar to Atlantis, except Mu was also the name of an older civilization, both nearly destroyed by a cataclysmic event at least 10,500 years ago, as was Atlantis. Theoretically, the only remnants left of Mu would be the Hawaii we know today, as well as the islands of Tahiti and Rapanui.

Interestingly enough, the last ice age ended at approximately 10,500 B.C. causing the water level of the world’s oceans to rise by almost 400 feet. If you look at a modern topographical map, you will see that prior to this oceanic rise, the islands of Maui, Moloka’i and Lana’i would have been a single land mass. Not a continent by any means, but still a sizeable chunk of land! So Mu may have in fact been this earlier large land mass.

The Mu people were thought to have been a very peaceful race, highly evolved in the fields of agriculture, astronomy, fishing, navigation, and the fine arts, amongst other disciplines. They had no kings ( Ali'i=king or high chiefly line ) no great war lords, no great armies, and no system of laws. As such, the conquering Tahitians considered these first people as weak and undisciplined, and thereby called them Menehune or Manahune; those of secret or hidden power.
